Job Summary: Supervises a group of Hairstylists, NA-7, who perform hairdressing and beauty services; may also supervise Barbers, NA-7 and/or manicurists. In charge of hair care facility operations. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises a group of Hairstylists, Manicurists, and/or Barbers. Establishes work schedules and ensures adequate staffing. Provides training and guidance to subordinate associates. Prepares work performance reviews, approves leave, maintains time and attendance records, etc. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action, as needed, and carries out EEO policies and communicates support of these principles to subordinates. - Provides hair care service in hairstyling and/or barbering; consults with clients on matters pertaining to their hair care needs. Checks client's scalp and hair for disorders such as sores, abrasions or diseases which may interfere with requested service. - Operates cash register; prepares hair care chits; collects and accounts for cash received from clients; balances daily sales using Salesperson's Daily Cash Report. Sells hair care products to clients and maintains Daily Appointment Book by name of client, time and Hairstylist/Barber assigned. Opens and closes Haircare Shop. - Performs monthly inventory of shop supplies; maintains adequate stock of supplies. Ensures that sanitation, security and safety standard are met. - Carries out policy of courtesy and customer service. Ensures 100% customer satisfaction. - Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Carries out duties with independence within prescribed policies and procedures and exercises tact in dealing with customers. Refers unusual problems to supervisor. Work is reviewed in terms of quality of service provided, customer satisfaction achieved, and efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations. - Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires continual use of both arms, and hands, and involves frequent standing, reaching and lifting. Objects handled such as beauty service apparatus, implements, appliances, etc., seldom weigh in excess of 5 pounds. Dexterity is required in applying manual massaging techniques. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside a haircare shop with proper lighting and decor, sufficient plumbing and heating, adequate aisle space, strong water pressure, plenty of hot water, adequate electric power and outlets for appliances and apparatus. Incumbent is subject to possibility of cuts, strains and electric shock, and exposed to hair cuttings, skin conditions, common colds and communicable diseases. Is required to wear a smock; wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water; and sanitize implements and apparatus after each use. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of beauty culture and possession of a valid State License in Cosmetology Qualifications: EDUCATION AND LICENSE: Graduate of an accredited school of cosmetology and possession of a valid U. S. State License in Cosmetology. Candidate's selected for hire who possess a U.S. State License in Cosmetology from a State other than the State the position is located must obtain a valid State License in Cosmetology in the State the position is located within six months from the date of hire. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in complete hair care services to clients such as shampooing, shaping, styling, cutting, relaxing, coloring, permanent waving; using liquid styling tools, scissors, razors, clippers, pin curls, rollers, hot combs, curling irons, etc. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires continual use of both arms and hands and involves frequent standing, reaching and light lifting.
